On the Ground:
This month we hit a dry spell in the middle of the late rains, which is not ideal for an agricultural and farming community, let alone the desert-like valley we live in. One positive, however, is that many surrounding communities are cut off during the heaviest part of the rainy season, accessible only to the most experienced drivers with trucks or motos.
As a result, we have been able to visit families we thought would be out of reach for a while. While visiting one area, we learned that one of our patients, M, had recently lost her baby due to maternal illness.
When we found her, it was time to remove her stitches, and a nurse with experience and supplies was able to provide care right at her door.
God knows our needs and controls the timing. This unplanned visit was no coincidence.

He provided,
and He sent exactly what M needed that day—practical care and a listening, grieving presence. God is so good like that.

We have felt a fair bit of external pressure this month, but we are also finding how sweet marriage is as we share these things together before God.
The weight feels lighter, and God has given us unexpected breaths of refreshment in the midst of it.

We also are joyfully celebrating with Hope for Home as the Fulp family group home moved into their new accessible home in the community of Hope. This move has been years in the making. Katie remembers when it felt like an impossible dream, and now it is a reality. The kids love the green space, and the caregivers appreciate the accessibility.
This celebration also marked the groundbreaking for the Chapin family group home, the next accessible build in the community. Though distance kept us from being present, we shared fully in the joy. God is so faithful to keep His promises.
Now, when we visit, we see these children Katie has loved for years thriving in the very dream she once shared. We also watch the Chapin home take shape for our nieces and nephews there. God is so faithful to keep His promises.

We have had so many new patients this month, most coming to the clinic with a friend. On the visit mentioned above, we also met a little friend. After seeing M, we were heading to another patient in the area when M’s husband asked if we could see his nephew, who does not speak.
Daniel explained that while we were glad to meet him and learn more, a visit would not bring healing, as some believe a foreigner’s presence can.
We climbed and climbed to find a six-year-old boy with cerebral palsy. His mother shared that he was born early and not breathing. Now, when she leaves to find work as a single mom of 2, he tries to follow her and has gotten lost or fallen, so she must sometimes lock him in for his safety.
This visit stirred something in us.
We have also found other children with special needs in these mountains, and we know there are hundreds many more hidden. We are beginning to explore how Katie’s passion for children with special needs and Daniel’s passion for teaching and empowering could come together to serve this overlooked population.
God is faithful in how He connects things—and people.

Prayer Requests:
— Pray also for our little girl’s safety as mosquitoes are still very bad and Dengue and Malaia reported in the area would be dangerous for her during pregnancy.
— Please join us in praying for God’s provision– as we have so faithfully seen, for both our family, and those that we serve.
— Pray for safe travels on dangerous roads when the rains return.
